What are the responsibilities of companies in this or similar situations?

A company which changes social culture and living habits should take moral obligations, not only in own position, but following the principle of faith. The company should also strength its supervision as well as assuming the obligation of social service.

What could Nestlé have done to have avoided the accusations of “killing Third World babies” and still market its product?

After the crisis began, Nestle adopted scientific figures and laws as a weapon to maintain their company's interests and reputation. Thus they publish a large number of scientific figures to prove conformity of their products, and filed a lawsuit against resistance groups through legal means. Finally ,although successful in the law, it also bring the image of escaping responsibility to public. Nestle should have strengthen the social adaptation and recognition, regularly respond positively to social concerns and be accountable to the community. They should also adopt a new measure to establish a humane, responsible, and trusty company's image.

After Nestlé’s experience, how do you suggest it, or any other company, can protect itself in the future?

Try to avoid the occurrence of crisis, what we can learn from Nestle incident is that, try to make the enterprise management idea and mode of operation is consistent with The Times, even ahead of it.

  According to infant milk powder incident, for those companies who want to join in the international market, they should change the system of reward that used to measure the products in terms of profit. It is negative effects that they must fully consider.
