As a group, we all agree that it was difficult to undertake this activity. We all felt that it was a challenge to think out of the box and relate our daily routines as well as the things we see to the accounting profession. After the presentation of out photographs, I could see how my group mates’ perspective differ from each other. I personally relate my photographs to the ethics and attitude of a professional accountant, such as life long learning and practice, where as some of my group mates relate their photographs to the achievement of a professional accountant. The most common of all attributes that we discovered is life long learning. We all felt that the accounting profession is improving day-by-day and there’s a lot to learn as an accountant. We have to learn and understand different standards of different countries that do not adopt the IFRS in order to broaden our horizons and experience working in a different country.

Discipline is the key to develop these attributes. I would have to be serious and be diligent especially with practicing accounting concepts as it is vital to problem solving in the work place. Any kind of situation can arise in a work place and inability to solve problems will affect an organisation’s performance and efficiency.

I believe that there is a difference between ‘personal’ and ‘professional’ identity. I feel that it is not right to mix them as we might bring up personal issue into our professional life and that could affect us in many ways. Firstly, it would affect out judgement while making decisions to solve problems. Secondly, it would also affect our working environment, colleagues and performance. A bad decision could affect an organisation efficiency and productivity, financial performance and create tension and hatred between colleagues, leading to an unhealthy working environment.
