Was Postman right about Huxley’s prediction of the future coming to pass or does Orwell's idea seem more plausible in today’s society? In a Brave New World by Aldous Huxley they have abolished pain, real love, and war from human society. In both Brave New World and 1984 have different ways to control the people and taking your freedom some way or another. I believe Postman is right about Huxley’s vision of people being controlled by pleasure.
In Huxley’s vision did society give up some of our freedom in ignoring pain and focusing in on pleasure. When John Cooper aka “the savage” said this quote, “But I don’t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I Want freedom, I want goodness, I want sin.” (Huxley) This shows that there are still people that know what freedom is and they are willing to fight for it. In the movie they have gotten rid of any type or form of pain like childbirth and the way we view death.
In Brave New World the real love connections that we see so much in todays society has been demolished like the idea of mothers and fathers. Like in a real marriage where we are only faithful to one person for the rest your life but instead as said in the movie “Everyone belongs to everyone else”. Also it is frowned upon to experience the pain of childbirth or even to call yourself parents but that was eradicated after they started growing humans in tubes not people.
