1, List the relevant facts:
Steven is an experienced employee working for the account payable section of a big industrial company.
Kristin, a talented manager with a serious working style, has been transferred to Steven’s department.
Steven complains to the new boss that he is not satisfied with the working style of his colleagues.
Kristen gives Steven two options, either listing the name of spoiled workers or getting trouble into himself
2, List the Primary Stakeholders/participants:
Steven
Kristin
Steven’s college
Kristin’s college
Board of Directors
Stakeholders of the company.
3, List the ethical issues: Should Steven give his new boss the name of the people who he considered as bad workers even though he's not so sure about it? Or should he keep the information away from Kristin? Or should he put off and think of the new solutions?
4, List the possible alternatives:
Do what his boss wants.
Apologize that he was emotional when he said it to her
Postpone the time to find a new solution.
Refuse to follow his boss’s order
5, List the Practical considerations:
Is Steven going to get fired if he does not follow the order?
If he apologizes to his new boss for his emotional reaction, will he leave his boss with a bad impression?
If he asks for more time, will Kristin agree?
6, Determine what action should be taken?
Steven should tell his boss that he was not in a good emotional condition when he said that. Maybe he will get a bad remark on Kristin, but later on, his boss might recognize that Steven has a good ethic and everything will be easier.
