Marks and Spencer commonly referred to as, M&S, is one of Britains biggest multinational retailer. The store specialies in luxury food products, clothing for all ages and gender, and home products. The company was founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in 1894. Marks and Spencer now has over 700 stores in the UK and over 360 stores world wide. Referring to the Marks and Spencer annual report 2015 they now have a group revenue of £10.3 billion, profiting £661.2 million before tax.

A business strategy is a long term plan that will guide an organisation to reach its objectives, and is unique to every organisation. Strategic Management is the most important aspect that is undertaken by any organisation. A skilful strategy in place can determine whether or not the business will be a success or a failure. In this report we will be looking at the economic performance of Marks and Spencer.
In their annual report they explained about their strategic planning, “A well run business relies on robust financial management and planning. We are committed to creating value for shareholders by making M&S a more profitable business through improved gross margin and strong cash generation, driven by rigorous control of costs and capex.”In this assignment Ive got to show that I have understood Marks and Spencers strategy. I have done this by using different frameworks to anaylsis their strategy in detail.
