Write a short description and your relationship to the organization.

The organization that I will be describing is Prince Hall Masonic organization of Kansas, we have approximately 1,000 members. We are a nonprofit philanthropic organization that provides help to members of the community in which we live and work. We serve men, women and children of all ages, means and circumstances.

I have been a member of this organization for over 20 years and have held several positions on the local and grand lodge level. I have been very fortunate to have served this organization and the people of the community.

In your organization, how managerial accounting is working for planning and controlling.

Managerial accounting for planning and controlling in our organization helps provide us with better strategies for achieving our objectives, and to provide better opportunities for our members as well as the people of our communities that we serve. When a decision is made it must take into account the benefits as well as the pitfalls that will potentially happen and there must be an alternate plan in place for these actions.

Our managers make sure that the plans are adhered to by having quarterly reports of our subordinate lodges submitted to our governing body to be reviewed for accuracy and accountability. These reports determine whether or not the subordinate lodges are functioning according to grand lodge rules and by-laws. If discrepancies are found then a different plan of action is put in place to correct the deficiencies that were noted.

Indicate any specific roles of managerial accounting compared with other organization.

Our managers use all the information from the subordinate lodges to create specific goals and strategies for our future operations. They must keep the organizations objectives in line with our current available
