Air Asia Berhad is the second Malaysia Airline and is the largest low-cost airline in Asia which founded in 1996. The competitors for Air Asia Berhad in Malaysia is Malaysia Airline.At the beginning it failed to turn a profit as they fail to attract enough passengers from Malaysia Airlines to establish its own niche market. In 2001, Dato' Sri Dr Tony Fernandes takes over Air Asia and enrolled some of the lending low-cost airline experts to restructure Air Asia's business model . By December 2002, Air Asia have their first profit of USD 6 million.
Air Asia Berhad vision is ‘Now Everyone Can Fly' while the mission is to offer reasonable airfares without any compromise to Flight Safety Standards. The company operates scheduled domestic and international flight to over 400 destinations spanning 25 countries. Air Asia Berhad provides different kind of service to benefit all citizens and worldwide travelers as they offer 40%-60% lower airfares compare to others airline in Asia. Moreover, they launched Air Asia X in 2007 to offer high-frequency and point-to-point networks to the long-haul business.
AirAsia which is the pioneer in low-cost airline business in the world, with more than 65 domestic and international destinations. It was established in 1993 and its growth in case of revenue at the end of 2008 was over 32% and passed 830,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
