Abstract
Dubai is recognized in the world trade market as the biggest logistic world available in the Middle East region. Its geographic location is considered one of its main advantages and it has been used as a trade zone in that region for centuries. The country has invested heavily on supply chain, and logistic infrastructure, creating the Dubai World Center (DWC) with Dubai Logistic City (DLC) as its main area of concentration. As the plan developed, issues with policies, security, and custom procedures arise, and the competition of other nations, such as Qatar and Bahrain, are making the use of DLC full potentiation more difficult.
The low number of exports, and the limited type of goods initially traded with nations at risk, left Dubai in a vulnerable economic position that prevented further economic influence in the world market. Although many companies are already making investments in the region, the restrictions imposed are creating barrier for mid size companies to enter the market in that region.
Introduction
On the southeast region of the Persian Gulf, Dubai has emerged as reference in the global economy. Home of the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Burj Khalifa, and with strategic geographic location, Dubai, one of the seven members of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) country, has positioned as a very important business hub of the Middle East and South Asia (Pacione, 2005).
In order to sustain business in the magnificent way the country usually does, an ambition plan was created to satisfy current and future logistical business. With that in mind the Dubai World Center (DWC) was created. The program, completely funded by the government, has the objective of becoming the largest logistical hub that creates a free-trade zone and offers logistical support and storage for Dubai and the entire Middle East region.
