Apple is an American multinational company that designs, develops and sells electronics, computer software and computers. It’s the world’s largest technology company. In 2012 the company made $41.7 billion in profit. It’s got loads of strengths. One of them is that it’s only got one competitor in the computing technology and that is the Microsoft Platform. Also with the reliability of the software the fact that it’s virus free unlike Microsoft it’s getting more and more popular all over the world.
But even with all the popularity, Apple still has it’s weaknesses. One of them is the price, many people prefer to buy Microsoft products because they are a lot cheaper. Some people simply cannot afford apple technology. Another is compatibility, the problem is that people can’t use Microsoft software on apple products. When you buy Apple, you have to buy all the special Apple attachments. Like when you buy an i-phone you have to buy a special Apple dock. Recently Apple have had an increasing amount of complaints about their new release, the i-phone 5, the complaints were about the fact that the phone has a smaller connector to all the other phones, that meant that all Apple attachments that people had already bought in the past didn’t fit, and you had to pay extra for a dock adaptor that fits the normal charger.
Tesco is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer. It is the third-largest retailer in the world measured by revenues and the second largest measured by profits. In 2012 they made a before tax profit of £3.8 billion. It’s got loads of strengths, one of them is that they deliver cheaper, better products and they provide more choice. In the year, they continued to make long-term price reductions throughout their businesses. Tesco reported that now the average weekly shop at Tesco costs less than it did a year ago.
