1. Trace URC’s success story. What are the factors that contribute to its success?
The factors that contributed to the success of Gokongwei’s products are his determination, perseverance and passion for his company’s continuous improvement. Other factors contribute to it’s success is his being Creative and Innovative in the products which he offered. Through this, he’d attracted the eyes and captured the ears of most consumers to buy and be benefited with their products and services. Other factor is his thought about the right strategy that he’d used for its improvement and also the excellent value of his product and services that he offered to his valued customers. Because of the right decision-making he made and factors he’d try to possess, he achieved the competitive strength for his company’s growth.
2. Analyze the growing market base in Asia. How did Gokongwei take advantage of it?
Gokongwei is a risk-taker. He is striving to developed strategies for them to use to beat the other products of their competitors, even the unpopular products; he made it way to improved and develops again this product. His company is thriving in a high-risk market environment. But the risks they take care are well-educated: they are not merely gambling it. He observed and keep track with the products where consumers mostly tracks and then, he tried to get some ideas from those products that he may also use for his own.
3. Base on John Gokongwei’s words of wisdom, how can the Philippines compete globally?
One of the words of wisdom of wisdom of Gokongwei is “Don’t be afraid to take on the big boys.” This is similar to the motto of the Pinoy entrepreneurs site, which is: “in a global economy dominated by entrenched giants, the Pinoy Entrepreneurs can still make it big.” Mr. Gokongwei is a living testament to this motto, by taking on the domestic and global giants. In his words: “Remember thestory of David and Goliath? Every industry has its goliath. But every David knows that all giants have their weaknesses. Every weakness is an opportunity.”
