Camp Happy Valley
Camp Happy Valley is a non-profit summer day camp for children located in London, Ontario. The case is about utilizing very limited resource both monetary and not in order to effectively combat the problem in a timely manner. As of late,the camp has experienced a significant drop in moral and a large increase in parental complaints this has been largely attributed to poor training practice and poorly motivated staff. In order to combat this Adam Cameron a four year veteran of camp Happy valley has been promoted to the position of programer by the camp director Sue Johnson however, Cameron is new to this position and also a student with very limited time. He must find a solution within his allotted study week to the dilemma the camp is experiencing. The major problem at Camp happy valley is the lack of moral and poor motivation felt by both the staff and campers alike. This problem is a direct result of multiple smaller issues within the camp such as, the lack of an interactive and effective Training process and an efficient and timely recruiting process. Furthermore this is amplified by a lack of manpower to effectively tackle these issues. All of this is amounting to a serious issues which could have drastic effects on the company's operations. The alternatives discussed where bring in an expert, adding additional administration members, altering the training as well as the recruiting process and implementing a staff feedback system. It was ultimately recommended that additional administration members be added and that the training and recruiting processes be changed.
The major concern and biggest problem at Camp happy valley is the lack of moral and motivation amongst the staff members. This major problem is simply a snowball effect from various smaller problems within the recruiting and training processes which are resulting in a lack of quality staff and motivation amongst current staff members respectively. Additionally the less than stellar experience that the majority of staff members are receiving from the job is contributing to the 25% employee turnover rate which is leading to the administration staff having a hard time with recruiting. All these minor issues are combining to affect the overall staff morale, the staffs poor morale is then transiting into the campers overall experience and morale resulting in high parental complaints. These complaints can be detrimental to the camp's success as the camp does not advertise therefore they rely on word of mouth in order to maintain their level of camper attendance, With unhappy parents the camp could see a devastating hit to their participation if they do not resolve the issues soon.
The top priority of the camp is to address the parental complaints as to ensure a maintained level of campers. The organization should then move on
