1. Executive Summary

Caribbean Internet Café (CIC) is an Internet Café that offer computer services including access to the internet, a small menu of light food and beverages. CIC is the first ever internet café to be opened in Jamaica. CIC menu will be similar to a typical European café offering brewed coffee, imported wines, fresh tropical juices, and baked products such as croissants, bagels, donuts and other pastries. CIC will offer 5 computer booth with access the internet for customers who want to use the service. The café also would provide a printing services, a scanner and latest office software. CIC aim to offer it services at a competitive price to meet the demand of its target segment.

This report is to study and evaluate CIC market outlook as well as its financial outlook and this information can be used to assist the shareholders’ in their decision making process.

2. Introduction

Company Background

CIC is a private limited company with $1,000,000 paid-up capital. Shareholders of the company is consisting of two shareholders on 50% of the shares each.

David Grant a future MBA graduates from prestigious Richard Ivey School of Business in London, Ontario hold 50% of the shares. Another 50% of the share hold by Jamaica Telecommunication Limited, one off the internet service provider (ISP) in Jamaica.

CIC will be located in the business district of New Kingston, Jamaica where most banks, insurance companies, financial institutions and corporations had head offices or branches. There are two major hotels and a shopping centre in the area and the location was close to several affluent suburbs. This location provides a good catchment area to the CIC potential customer base.

Business Model

CIC will provide computer services with internet access and complemented by light pre-cooked food and beverages sourced from local bakeries and suppliers as needed. With pre-cooked food CIC did not have to build a kitchen in the café and kitchen staff are not needed which reduces CIC operational cost.

In Jamaica internet awareness are high but there is low accessibility and usage. This is due to the cost of acquiring computer system and internet services are very high and lack of telecommunication infrastructures in Kingston. These situations are estimated to remain for the next three years and CIC would benefit from this by providing affordable internet access to its customers. Compliment with food and beverages in store CIC would have multiple revenue stream for its profitability.

CIC will initially accommodate 50 seats in the premise. 15 seats will be provided at the 5 computer
