Changing role of Information Systems in Organizations
Information system (IS) plays a vital role in major organizations and it is one of the significant parts of its management system. In the last two decades, Information system transformed business organizations into global market shareholders. As compared to the past, the Business's organizations rely more on imports and exports of goods which refers back to information systems and technology that helped them to maintain their communications, collect and analyze the data.
Today business organizations are more different than their ten or 15 years past position. Most of the firms expand their businesses outside their parental territory. Now they have more employees, sales, revenue and overall business data which need a strong information system. Information system contributed the businesses as follow:
1. Organizations became more digital information system based which give them extra power.
2. Declining cost of organizations.
Information system contributed business organizations to decrease their extra costs incurred as a result of; large number of employees, plenty of computers and other technologies.
3. Analysis of data is another advantage of information system.
Now organizations can easily collect the required data and analyze it through entering in computer information system.
4. Organizations use websites to share their data and information with their customers, share holders, vendors …etc.
5. Information system has flattened bureaucratic system of organizations. Prior the modern information system, organizations were more inefficient and they were less competitive than today.
