Chern’s Assignment 1

Cher’s should establish a core workforce of employees who would be long-term, regular employees and who know all of the inside-outs of the company in order to help the organization to grow. Chern should use two strategies to hire workers, one internally and the other externally. The company might train and develop current employees and promote them to higher positions in the workforce. Then, the company might hire externally if those positions are needed to be refilled after the internal employee was promoted.

Chern would do best by adapting first to training and developing the most needed skills. Having the opportunity to train their employees to fit exactly to the level of skills that they are looking for will greatly help any business to succeed through forming a workforce of employees with only the highest skills. Retaining talent should be the most important part of a company’s management because this is the best way they can show employees their appreciation, and this in turn will build a stronger relationship between management and employees which will encourage them to want to work harder and stay with the company, and therefore keeping the turnover rate low.

For the position of Sales Associate, Chern would need to find someone who has a very good set of customer service skills, who is friendly and sales-driven, and has a good knowledge of technology. As far as Assistant Manager, Manager and higher-level positions, Chern would do best to hire a person who has strong communication skills, abilities in problem-solving, and who has strong leadership skills to support the sales floor.

Chern should staff proactively, because this will give the company time to choose the right person before the position needs to be refilled. It is even more helpful in that it could show current and future employees that there is no discrimination at the firm. Chern should focus on the
