Impression Management Assignment
1. When I am working at a restaurant my "front" is upbeat, happy, and courteous towards others but, I am also working hard to get orders out as soon as possible. In English class I am paying attention and answering questions. I am asking questions to my professor and making comments that illustrates that I am working hard to earn a good grade.
2. My region affects my presentation because when I see customers at other places I am more relaxed and jolly. When they see me at work I am sometimes working really hard and may take it as me being rude. Whenever I see my professors I don't know how to behave because of my actions in class and the professor may take it out of context.
3. When I am at the gas station, at the mall I am preforming emotionally for the public, which are backstage regions. Front stage regions are when I am at the building where I work. While am working at the restaurant I have to behave in a certain way when in front of the customers (front stage), because the customer has already well-defined expectations about me. The frontstage regions are performance.
4. At work I am dressed neat, clean, polite, and patient with the customers. In English class I am quiet, attentive, and sociable. I dress comfortable in class and am well-relaxed.
5. At work I am not slouching. I am working tall with my head held high. In class I may be slouching but, it really doesn't matter to the professor. If I yawn at work that is very unacceptable to the supervisor because that expect formality. On the other hand if I yawn in class its ok. So, I have different standards and expectations when it comes to work and class.
