Introduction : Coke and Pepsi are the world’s leader of world’s beverage market. Till 1960 coke was dominating the market , but then Pepsi started the Pepsi - Coke challenge. It is difficult to exactly tell which one is the winner.

Relationship:

1) History of Coca Cola and Pepsi : More than 100 years back Curiosity and Innovation gave birth to coca cola in 1873 and Pepsi was invented in 1893. Since then both the soft carbonated drinks have been fulfilling the thirst and quench of people around the world.

2) Pepsi and Coke are known for their refreshing taste as well as their 100 year old rivalry. Both the companies are continuously competing to win the market share and be the no. 1 soft drink company.

3) Pepsi and Coke enjoyed a big market share , huge profit as well as cut throat competition between them.

4) Both the companies have developed a huge system of Concentrate Producer and Bottlers in US as well as around the world.

5) Both Companies entered fast food market by acquiring restaurant business. Pepsi has acquired Pizza hut, KFC, Taco Bell . On the other hand Coca cola has Subway and rights to sell coca cola in Wendy’s , Burger King.

Strategy :

- Pepsi and Coke has travelled a long journey staring from one carbonated soft drink to more than 500 products in the product line.

- Pepsi has survived 2 bankruptcies and great depression due to its great marketing tactics. Pepsi expanded outside the US to approach broad customer base. Pepsi kept offering new products and kept acquiring other food and beverages companies to make a strong customer base.Pepsi Advertising was trying to position Pepsi as the preferred drink of the youth of America.

- Coke has sustained a leading brand and developed a diversified portfolio with more than 500 products
