- Executive summary
E-waste was contributed by discarding electrical or electronic types of equipment no longer in use and these devices rely on electric or electromagnetic fields to operate. As technology advances, the amount of e-waste is increasing rapidly. Due to firms and government have inadequate guidelines to assist consumer to reuse, recycle and reduce e-waste, advance countries exported numerous e-waste to developing countries. It caused many drawbacks on health, safety problems in developing countries, the most serious one is harmful material can be accumulation in soil, water and food.
After identifying the issues of e-waste, different stakeholders have different expectation. E-waste causes many problems in worldwide so stakeholders all connected to benefits and costs. The stakeholders concern e-waste including customers, technology corporations and its employees, government and non-government organization. Customers will take benefits when the technology corporations did a good job to minimize the impact of e-waste as CSR initiatives. Then technology corporations must be pay attention to e-waste aspect. They get an opportunity to enhance their reputation. Employees concern advantages on the issue of e-waste and they in the technology corporations serve as verification of the CSR initiatives by other stakeholders, which means internal stakeholders are important. Government can divide into developed and developing countries. NGOs represent the public that serves as a monitoring role to technology manufacturers. In the corporate citizenship, each stakeholder takes different stand on the issue of e-waste and no one can escape dealing with the problems.
