Description of Singapore Airline

Founded in May 1947, Singapore airline started from a regional to the one of the top and well-known airline in the world. Singapore airlines initially only provides 3 neighbouring travel destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh & Penang. Till today, it has spanning a network spread of 6 continents, Singapore airline have become the world largest and most successful airline. Travelling with SIA not only provide you a sense of security of travelling within the expensive and youngest aircraft, guests on board also gets to enjoy on-board entertainment; such as movies of the latest blockbuster and fun and exciting games with a variety from puzzle-solving to action pack games. Aside from on-board entertainment, flying with Singapore airline together with Singapore air stewardess, guests get to indulged with the high standards of services. From international cuisine to our local delights, specially cook by renowned chefs around the world. They even offer special meals for guests who are on special diet and meal for the young one, catering meals to suits their need. Aside from the dishes, champagne, wines, spirits, liquors, beers & non-alcoholic beverages are carefully selected from around the globe. Singapore Airline was the first airline to offer free headsets, choice of meals and free drinks in Economy Class, in 1970s. First to introduce satellite-based inflight telephones in 1991, first to involve a comprehensive panel of world-renowned chefs for inflight meals in 1998, first to fly the A380 from Singapore to Sydney on 25 October 2007.

Political

Most countries have a national carrier in which their own airline that carries their country’s flag. For example, Singapore Airline is a Singapore own carrier and everything is based in Singapore.

As Singapore has no natural resources, tourism in Singapore is one of the major contributions to our Singapore’s economy. Every year, Singapore attracts almost 13 million of tourist (based on 2011), which is over twice of the population in Singapore.

Having a carrier representing the nation and contributing to the tourism in the country, airlines tend to receive great support from government.

Economical

Firstly, one of the major economic threats to Singapore Airlines would be the growth in fuel costs. It was reported that price increased by 30% in the year 2011 which has caused complaints and unhappiness among consumers as the ticket prices rises due to the increasing cost.

The rising cost of fuel was caused by the natural disaster in Japan and the unrest in Middle East and North Africa in year 2011 which affects the negative impact to the airline industry. There was a high slashed in profit to as low as $4billion which results in increase fuel cost on customers when flying with Emirates Airlines.
