Developing Leaders at UPS
The major skills Jovita Carranza has demonstrated in her career at UPS that have made her a successful leader are her "corporate achievements, determination, drive, innovation, and leadership in business" (Hughes, Ginnet & Curphy, 2012, pg. 82). Jovita Carranza has earned the distinction of being named "Woman of the Year" by the Hispanic Business Magazines (Hughes, Ginnet & Curphy, 2012, pg. 82), the article talks about Jovita Carranza's team work and commitment to UPS (her employer) as well as her co workers. Jovita encourages the employees and the company to look at all aspects of things while working so that they can know and understand everyone's needs. She has organizational values, loyalty, encourages others, diversity, social responsibilities and a long with many other qualities throughout the years of being at UPS. With all of these qualities Jovita Carranza has become a successful leader, she knew what she wanted to be able to move up in the company. She has been with UPS for over 30 years and at first she was not like this but throughout the years and being offered new ways to learn, improve herself in her department as well as others she committed herself to UPS. She saw team work, interaction and areas to grow as a person because UPS is also committed to their employees she was able to become very successful, has wonderful opportunity to do many things in many different departments and allowed her employees to become successful, with encouraging them on the way into creating great careers for them and the company.
Considering the spiral experience(s) that Jovita Carranza has traveled, her experience(s) affected her ability as a leader starting from the first day she worked at UPS (at the bottom)and has worked hard, earned her way through being offered opportunities to learn and grow with experience and education in other departmental areas as UPS has asked her.
