Dubai Ethics Authority: Policy Document

Introduction

Dubai is a country that is rich in history and tradition. It is a forward-looking society that is equally bound to its culture and heritage. Dubai is keen on protecting and promoting its traditions as conveyed by Islam, as well as its Arab identity and culture. This makes Dubai a traditional and socially conservative yet progressive, open and tolerant city.

Thus it was decided to establish a new authority that is DUBAI ETHICS AUTHORITY. The aim of this authority is to set standards for social ethics and mutual respect that shall be followed by all the citizens of Dubai. Its mission is to guide the citizens in differentiating between right and wrong, and make Dubai an ethical nation.

Ethics and morality are vitally important in our world. Ethics is a code of values which guides our choices and actions and determine the purpose and course of our lives. It is simply a principle that helps promote, enhance, and maintain our lives. Without ethics, our society would become even more corrupt and fall from the great nation which it is today. Thus this Ethics authority will in help keeping things in order and in peace. Because our decisions have such a great influence, it is our responsibility to our society and those around us to live a life of good ethics.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of the Dubai ethics authority is to perform their duties to the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all relevant legal principles. Implement the policies and decisions of the Government in an impartial, efficient, effective and ethical manner. The aim is to encourage the citizen to have an ethical behaviour not only in the business but also in to day to day routine. The mission of the head authority is to monitor ethical behaviour of all the departments and if there is any scope of improvement then put efforts to achieve it.

General Code of Ethics:

Following are some general code of ethics which will be understood, implemented, enforced and monitored by each department of the Dubai Ethics Authority.

  1. Honest and Ethical conduct: We practices a honest conduct that is free from fraud and deception. The ethical conduct includes ethical handling of actual conflicts of interests between personal and professional relationship.

  1. Discrimination: No employee or the member of the authority should be discriminated on the basis of race, gender, caste, age, religion, disability and nationality.

  1. Harassment: Any kind of harassment will not be tolerated and will result in some serious actions.
  1. Employee/client privacy: The physical privacy, social privacy, informational privacy and psychological privacy of the employee and the

  1. Health and Drugs: The undesirable behaviour is aimed at or causes the work or study performance of the person to be affected and/or creates an intimidating, hostile or unpleasant working or study environment.

  1. Undesirable behaviour: Any kind of behaviour which is aimed at or causes the work or study performance of the person to be affected and/or creates an intimidating, hostile or unpleasant working or study environment will be punishable.

  1.  HEALTH CARE ETHICS AUTHORITY
  1. Research Ethics :

Research ethics authority is responsible for all the researches that are done in Dubai. The Authority will ensure that all health research involving human and animal subjects within Dubai is conducted in an ethical manner; and enhance public awareness of the ethical dimension of health research involving human subjects. It is the responsibility of the officials to review the processes of the research and ensure quality of the product or the results and also to ensure the safety of the animals.
