Adam Wainwright is in Spain trying to get increased production out of a high end guitar manufacturing facility. The manager at the site Mr. Dominguez is truly a craftsman who does not want to sacrifice any quality for a faster product. It is going to be a challenge to increase production in this facility but definately not impossible, because it has been done before. It will be difficult to increase productivity very high with Mr. Dominguez and his workers. Many of their social values are attributed to craftsmanship and allowing workers greater freedoms. They get a multi-hour lunch which is unheard of in America, this alone says a great deal about their social differences. Adam is approaching this with a very ethnocentric view which is affecting his ability to find any improvement in production. He needs to talk to Mr. Dominguez and see what ideas he may have to increase production. One place for improvement is some time that is not being effectively managed by Carlos. Although research is valuable it can be time consuming. In the second to last paragraph it states "But Carlos has been off in a corner most of the week, wearing protective gear and experimenting with his notions about the potential tonal qualities of Wenge in acoustic bodies". They can focus on what they already have until demand slows down some without lowering the quality. This will lower innovation, however it seems like one of the few methods available. It may be also be possible to expand with another workshop. Possibly branding some guitars out of this second workshop with a different name to sell under without damaging Guitarras Dominguez's reputation for craftsmanship. Adam will have to work with the local workforce and their social customs to improve productivity but that is his job. Geocentrism will have to be avoided to manage this, but that is what he is there to do. Working hand in hand with Dominguez is the only way he can manage these goals.
