First and foremost, as Mcshane and Von Glinow state that Hillton’s, “organizational culture could be described as one of entitlement and comfort” (McShane and Von Glinow,2013, p426). When an organization shows signs of this in the initial stages of growth, one may question the longevity of this occurring. Shared assumptions may be a more definable term to use when analyzing everything that is occurring within Hillton’s corporate culture. One must also keep in mind as McShane and Von Glinow indicate “Shared assumptions are so deeply ingrained that you probably wouldn’t discover them by surveying employees” (McShane & Von Glinow, 2013, p. 406). When organizations do not function properly the cultures within them may not realize how their delusions are truly affecting the longevity. When these organizations do not function properly, we, as individuals within the culture, need to stand back and asses how these actions are definitively impacting the organization as a whole. Therefore, a change capable organization is cognizant of ways that they need to change and adapt these punitive mental models that may debilitated the organization in its future practices. If aforesaid issues are not properly addressed and controlled, these concerns may gradually erode the culture that exists within the organization. Said organization, may not exist for very long. An excellent example would be the Boiled Frog Delusion, when the frog is placed in a boiling pot of water, the frog immediately jumps out. If said frog is placed in a pot of water and the temperature is slowly increased the frog will not jump out, the frog, like an organization, is geared only to respond to immediate danger rather than a gradually changing environment. These same actions are directly correlated with many organizations such as Hillton’s.
The foundation of Hillton shows many gaps that may occur due to the rapid growth and development of the Hillton Community. These loopholes were created due to the monitoring of department manager becoming less of concern, due to the rapid growth of the municipality. Municipalities are like businesses, if monetary funds are not observed appropriately, funds may not be available for impending growth. Eventually the proverbial “bottom” will fall out, therefore,
