Ho Ching, a Powerful Leader
Ho Ching has become one of the most powerful and influential leaders in Asia. Her influence has actually changed the attitudes, values, beliefs, and behaviors of her target audience. (Pg. 117). She has become aggressive in her influence which has allowed her to achieve her goals. Her marriage to the Prime Minister, strength, and analytical thinking has landed her the job at Temasek Holdings as Chief Executor. While working with Temasek Holding her boldness and confident to influence her team members has allowed her to plan for the company move into the Indian market. Through her leadership Temasek Holdings has disclose their annual reports with details of its performance. This had never been done before. Ho Ching is moving forward in growth of the company.
Ho Ching spoke at a conference to a group of Indian companies. Her goal was to influence these companies to look into the Indian market. She was very rational in her speech as she provided factual evidence of Asia financial crisis of 1997. She talked about how the 1970 and 1980 saw the emergence of the four Asian Tigers of Korea. She also showed how Singapore’s trade with India grew about 50%. These were facts that could not be overlooked. Rational persuasion is a type of influence and is defined as an agent using logical arguments or factual evidence to influence others. (Pg. 135). Ho Ching exhibited this quality during her speech. She moved the crowd and inspired these companies to invest in the Indian market.
