Personal Statement
I have been working in the hospitality industry since I was 14 years of age and have learnt quickly about customer satisfaction. Employers can trust me and my judgement which is shown in my employee history and I form strong relationships with those I work with to create an enjoyable working environment. By doing this, it allows employees to happily learn from and help each other in difficult situations which in turn leads to happy customers. I go by the motto "The customer is always right' because at the end of the day, we work for them.
Employee History
The Past..
I started my working career at the age of 14 years in December 2009 as a Sandwich Artist at Subway, Warkworth. I continued to work there until September 2010, and during that time i was quickly promoted to shift supervisor in March 2010 (still the age of 14) which meant i would open and close the store myself and supervise those who worked on my shifts. I left to focus on my end-of-year school exams and the owner, Julianne Gibbs, appreciated and understood this and is now my phone referee.
After Subway i started casual work for Kylie Holmes doing pony rides at the Matakana Country Park. This gave me new experiences, such as learning to deal with young children and protective parents. When i turned 16, I began to work by myself without Kylie when she was away so I had all the responsibility and the safety for the children in my hands. I was able to do this because of my First Aid qualifications I have gained through Surf Lifesaving New Zealand and being an able horsewoman myself. I worked for Kylie up until December 2012 when she decided to stop doing pony rides, but has left Kylie and I with a strong friendship.
I have also undertaken training for beach education for children aged 5-13 years with Surf Lifesaving New Zealand. Because of unfortunate circumstances and bad timing I was unable to actually work any shifts, but the training is still there.
In November 2012 i took on more casual work for The Speckled Hen Cafe at The Matakana Country Park which involved making coffee, operating the till and serving customers. This broadened my knowledge of hospitality and allowed me to learn a new kind of service. I worked here until the end of January 2013 because i needed to prioritise my education and other job at The Stables Restaurant (the present).
