How to Manage You Boss

“That’s a hard question to answer,” stated Rivera when I asked her what her thoughts were on the subject how to manage your boss. She thinks it’s a matter of keeping a good communication with the boss. Not only with the positive but also the negative situations in the company. Rivera says it is hard to manage her boss because he is selfish and is mostly looking out for himself. Everyone knows the automotive business is one of the scummiest businesses out there. Everyone is looking out for him or herself and find ways to make more money. She has found herself in situations were she has to let go of a outstanding employee because her boss wants to cut cost. It is hard, but she finds ways to come to a compromise so the company can run smoothly. She tried to put on perspective what is more important for the company as opposed to just making one person more money.
Rivera manages her boss by suggesting a better alternative when her boss is about to make a foolish decision. However, she understands that there will be times where he won’t agree with her. Another important things is to communicate clearly, when dealing with her boss, she speak and writes in short sentences, use the fewest words possible to make a point, and make that point easily understandable. At the end of the day, she does have to make her boss successful so the company is successful. She has to make sure her department is working at it’s best to bring more customers into the dealership which will make the company more money and ultimately make her boss more money.
Rivera would like her subordinates to manage her similar to how she manages her boss. She is always looking out for her subordinates’ best interest and would like for them to be completely honest with her. She wants them to come to her if they don’t agree with a decision she has made.
