Introduction

Humanitarian organisations help provide material and logistic assistance to people in need when sudden natural disasters strike or wars occur or in connection with long-term conflicts. Among the people in need belong homeless, refugees, victims of natural disasters, war and famines. They provide food, clean water, sanitation and other basic needs and then stay to help countries return to self-sufficiency. The primary purpose of humanitarian organizations is to save lives, reduce suffering and respect to human dignity.

Humanitarian organisations provide the greater part of emergency aid all over the world. Organizations are categorized by the main humanitarian need they are addressing and resources on international aid standards and banned or fraud charities.

Caritas

Caritas is a confederation of 165 Catholic relief, development and social service organisations operating in over 200 countries and territories worldwide shares the mission of the Catholic Church to serve the poor and to promote charity and justice throughout the world^[1]. Caritas responds practically to humanitarian crises such as natural disasters, conflict and the effects of climate change. Main goals are to save lives, relieve suffering and help rebuild livelihoods and communities in the longer-term.

Caritas are dedicated to helping poverty ridden countries all around the world. They take action not only in third worldcountries that are suffering everyday but also step in when countries have been hit by natural disasters and are short on resources and support. The great thing about their support is they not only reduce their suffering, they also teach them how to support themselves with farming, cooking, gathering and building, to overcome their problem of poverty. They focus on giving things like water wells, farms, or education, to develop the community to be a better place to live^[2].

CARE

Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere - is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. Interesting fact is that CARE take place special focus on working alongside poor women because, in their opinion, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty.

The most activities of this organizations take place in Africa but also in Asia and Latin America.

WFP – is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, a part of the United Nations system.
