Organization Overview

A place that I definitely see myself working at in the near future is Reliance Industries Limited, an Indian conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mumbai, India. Reliance Industries Limited is a Fortune 500 company and the largest private sector corporation in India. Their motto “Growth is Life” aptly captures the ever-evolving spirit of Reliance. They are engaged in a very diverse range of businesses including hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and telecommunications. In every business venture, this company is committed to innovation-led, exponential growth. Their vision has pushed them to achieve global leadership in many of their businesses – including their position as the largest polyester yarn and fiber producer in the world.          Reliance is always looking to set sights on even more ambitious goals, remaining inspired and guided by the story and philosophy of their founder chairman Dhirubhai Ambani. Hailing from modest means, he followed his dream to create India's largest company. Reliance as an organization has adopted this ethos of converting adversity into opportunity and making the impossible possible by challenging conventional wisdom. “Their ultimate aim has always been – and will always be – to touch the lives of people in a positive way.” (http://www.ril.com/OurCompany/About.aspx)

The growth of Reliance Industries from a small trading company into a Fortune 500 global business conglomerate in just over one generation is a story of ambition, growth, and entrepreneurial vision. They have a turnover of nearly USD 66.8 billion and a net profit of over USD 3.9 billion. Not only are they the biggest private sector company in India with a market capitalization of over USD 78 billion, but they are also growing at an unprecedented rate. In the past decade, their revenues have grown more than tenfold. From oil and gas to refining and marketing, to petrochemicals and retail and special economic zones, their products and services “energize India and enhance lives”. Why This Organization is Appealing to Me

Reliance Industries-India’s largest private sector endeavor and an extremely diversified group of businesses, epitomizes the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative genius of its founder Dhirubhai Ambani. His aim to ‘Think Big, Think Differently, Think Fast and Think Ahead’ laid the foundation for Reliance Industries to reach the pinnacles of success that we see today. He visualized the growth of Reliance as an integral part of his grand vision for India and today the Reliance Group has managed to make a place for itself among the biggest corporate giants. It is my goal to be a part of such a world class organization that values long term sustainable growth, while also contributing to the social and economic development of the nation. In an interview, Anil Ambani, the vice chairman of Reliance Industries said ''We are rooted in India, but have set our sights on becoming a world-beating company,'' and this vision of his really resonated with me. The company has grown aggressively over the years, redefining the potential of the corporate sector in India.
