1. Identify all the micro operations and their activities which are mentioned.

The micro operations in operation management can be defined as detailed transformations within this macro operation. Micro operation was one of the operation components that includes in transformation process. A transformation process is an activity that takes one or more inputs, transforms the input into output with adds value in order to help providing good end product or services to the customers. Add value refers to value that help to increase customer satisfaction such as customers’ needs. Usually inputs are raw materials and outputs are products.

Based on the articles/case study, several micro operation can be identified happen in Brussels Airport, in the situation happen that being storied in the case study. Micro operation identified in the case study involved activities that transforming material, information and customer. This three activity indicates the type of transformation process happen specifically for micro operation in the case study. The activity that involve transforming materials are Air Traffic Control (Control and divert of air traffic during touch down and take off), Runway clearance and cleaning (Cleaning all the snow at the runways), De-icing (Clean and de-icing the snow on the aircraft and melt all the ice), In-flight catering (Loading meals into the air-craft), Aviation refuelling (refuel aircraft) , Servicing units (Hygiene material, water and sanitation units), Baggage handling (Weighting, receiving, checking, storage, delivering and loading into air-craft), Cabin cleaning (Cleaning in the air-craft, cabin and flight deck), Technical maintenance (Pre Check and post check), Shops (Gift and Free duty), Airport cleaning (Cleaning Air –port ) and Push-off tractor (Pull air-craft to parking).

Micro Operation that involve with activity transforms information are Airport communications (Arranging flight alterations between airports), Border control (Immigration and Customs Check), Departure/arrivals display board, Passport control and Passenger in-flight info (Information passed to passengers from pilot during flight). While activity transform customers are Passenger/crew transport (Buses from departure gate to aircraft, and from aircraft to arrivals gate), Customer waiting areas (Departure lounges, executive lounges), Departure gate control (Control of departing customers), Customer transportation, First aid, Security checks, Immigration and Customs (Enforcement of Customs and Excise laws)
