Infusion’s Greenfield Subsidiary in Poland

Alim Somani and Infusion are faced with the an interesting “problem”.  Their “problem” is that their venture in to Poland has become so successful so quickly, that after 15 months they must evaluate if they are approaching a ceiling.  Somani has to decide if Poland is a viable option to continue investing in past the established plans for the sites, or if it might be time to praise the success the company has had, realize their limits, and move on.

Somani and his team to date has done a fantastic job with their approach to building the business in Poland.  With the first site in Krakow, the deliberate slow, but steady building of employees to the optimal number of 40 in the ramp up phase (Kuemmerle) was executed perfectly.  The culture they were hoping for was achieved and the quality of work was phenomenal and better than expected.  They were able to duplicate this a second time in their expansion in to Wroclaw a short time later. The current plans of initially getting Krakow to 100 employees, followed by the same number for Wroclaw, fall well short of 235 employees, which is considered the capacity for foreign Research and Development locations (Kuemmerle).

With Infusion beginning to sell to European clients, Poland and the advantages it brings to the company is a great place to continue to be aggressive and lead the market.  Somani has to look no further than the potential for Poland than the Wroclaw site.  Wroclaw was set up to service one specific client and their back office operations.  As the client base expanded in Europe, logically so will the need for the type of cheap and quality labor that Poland provides.  I believe that achieving the growth to 100 employees at each site will come rather easily, as the first 15 months in Poland did.  Next the decision is to be made on how far they should expand the sites.
