Leadership Interview: Professor John Berry of Nashua community college

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to learn from an effective leader the effective practising of leadership. The paper discusses the background of the interviewee to give the reader an understanding of the perspective of an effective leadership. It also converses why the subject was chosen for the interview. The paper summarises the leaders’ responses to the questions listed. The leader is a professor of Nashua Community College and teaches Aviation Technology. I approached the Professor with the interview questions and I also had additional questions in an effort to learn beyond the assignment. The paper also analyses the individual style of and approach to leadership and the leadership theories that we are studying closely fits the leaders approach.
Introduction
The study of leadership theory is significance in today’s organizations. Leadership has expanded attention of researchers worldwide. People are seeking more information on how to improve their leadership skills and become effective leaders. I believe that a leaderless organization can be compared to an army without generals. There is a need of a leader with skills and experiences to give a single direction and guidance to employees. Therefore, Leaders are central in articulating and communicating new strategic directions to the followers. This motivates employees to upsurge their dedication to the organizational goals. When an effective leadership is put in place, everyone can feel it throughout the entire organization. With effective leadership, corporate culture is not forced but developed throughout the organization. Therefore, the organization engages in an open communication. Effective leadership ensures that employees feel they are an important part of the organization. Effective leadership brings high morale, sustainable long term success and good employee retention. Finding good leaders has been a crucial issue in all organizations. The organization I work for put so much effort into training the employees. In addition, the business schools and other providers of leadership development have thrived in training leaders. Professor will give a good insight on useable ideas to apply on work situations in order to emerge as an effective leader. Professor has established himself for more than thirty years in the field of leadership. . The professor is my role model and is the kind of a person that everyone else looks up to and wants to be like. . Whenever professor says something or does something, people notices. In the midst of the storm, professor has never let what others think sway him from pursuing the course for the college that he consider best. Therefore, the Professor will help many of the leaders who face criticisms at the organizations to become effective leaders.
