ITT Corporation is a manufacturing company with its headquarters in White Plains, New York. ITT Corporation is broken down into four divisions’ water and fluid management as well as defense and security. As I stated previously ITT is based out of NY they have branches in Colorado, Fort Wayne, New Jersey, California, SC, and Saudi Arabia. ITT supplies equipment to a wide variety of industries such as the U.S. and UK military, private and national security organizations’ and the aerospace industry. All ITT divisions require each employee to have or be able to obtain at least a secret security clearance.

ITT water and fluid division is a manufacturer, distributor, and systems integrator of water instrumentation serving the water, wastewater, and environmental markets around the world. The water and fluid division custom design their own equipment; they also fully integrate other companies’ equipment to fit their designs. ITT water and fluid divisions also specialize in water purification, and are one of the world’s most charitable organizations in the form of providing clean water to third world villages.

The ITT defense divisions which I was formally employed with works primarily with the U.S. military, but do from time to time supply other America friendly militaries with aftermarket equipment. The ITT defense divisions manufacture a wide range of defensive systems to help protect U.S service members. ITT manufactures systems that detect and jam Improvised Explosive Devises, which can be attached to any vehicle and can detect an explosive device with in a 100 yard radius. The defense divisions also have developed a low profile antenna that allows different unit commander to know the location of all units in a particular location, to avoid any friendly fire incidents.

The IIT security division works mainly in the private security sector as well as the aerospace industry. The security division manufactures security systems for airplanes, airports, private security vehicles and counter surveillance equipment.

The types of information that a corporation such as ITT would need to make informed human resource decisions mostly would be about an individual’s character and background. ITT Corporation deals with a lot of highly sensitive information regarding national security, and people’s personal safety. The Human Resources department must insure individuals that are hired are trust worthy and are not a threat to the company or the information they have access to.
