The author has identified the six basic leadership styles and further identifies the differences in those styles and how emotional intelligence impacts your business world. Emotional intelligence are what make up the different leadership styles and are the tools we use to govern ourselves and our relationships. To be an effective leader, you need to be able to look around and recognize when the climate needs to be changed. There is a direct relation between the climate and the financial success of the business. If you have a positive climate you will have positive results. Furthermore, an effective leader needs to look at one’s self and recognize when you as the leader need to take the necessary actions to better perform and lead in your management role. In doing this, an effective leader has the ability to know when and how to use the different management styles to produce the best results.
The Author has stated that there is scientific proof that genetics does play a part in whether you are predisposed to having emotional intelligence, the article further identifies that nurturing also has a role in this predisposition. This is also supported by the fact that the technical part of the brain can learn quickly why the emotional part of the brain takes longer to readjust and make these new learned habits your standard thoughts and actions.
It actually wasn’t until reading these articles that I understood the full meaning of emotional intelligence and how the skills are a critical part of effective leadership. I now have a better understanding of how each quality pertains to the overall climate in any organization. There is significant proof and examples to support the necessity of any effective leader to possess these qualities and know how and when to use them. In the article “What Makes a Leader”, the Author gives a detailed overview with examples of the five components of emotional intelligence. It
