1. Where would Ann Fudge be placed in each of the Five Factor Model (FFM) catagories?
Openness to Experience: Ann Fudge biked throughout Sardinia and Corsica during her sabbatical prior to joining Y&R. She has took up yoga and wrote a book.
Conscientiousness: Her former boss spoke about her high level comfort with everyone from high end customers to factory workers in a variety of settings. Ann understood the need for a leader to be comfortable with themselves.
Extraversion: Ann proved her extraversion by returning to a high level position from a sabbatical in which she was trying to define herself by more than her career.
Agreeableness: Being that Ann was comfortable with herself, she is able to interact with people easily despite their salary.
Neuroticism: Ann displayed this trait through her interest in yoga and desire to increase productivity so that people could have more time to be creative.
2. Consider the components of creative intelligence from Table 6.3. Identify the key components that have affected Ann Fudge’s success.
I think that her comfortableness with herself has allowed her to express her creativity easily. Her efforts of instituting a Six Sigma method for creativity further expresses her support for creativity. From the case study, it’s hard to imagine Ann as being someone to squash creativity of others.
3. Ann Fudge decided to take a sabbatical to focus on her personal life. Based on her experience, what are the benefits of such a break? What might be some drawbacks?
