Who, Why, What is a Manager?

Since the beginning of time, managers or at least the concept of managers has been around even though earlier civilizations might not have exactly realized it or had a word to define them at the time. The success of any business can, in part, be attributed to a company possessing a manager of superior quality because they are the ones, in the end, that oversee all actions and exchanges within said business. So, we know that in order to obtain and maintain prosperous enterprises we need to analyze managers further; consequently, we need to discover exactly what a manager does that allows a business to flourish into a successful enterprise.

One of the most important jobs a manager is assigned with his position, is his duty to set goals. Every employee at every level, no matter how insignificant, should possess a specific, attainable goal they are making progress towards whether it be a short-term or long-term. Reachable goals extensively benefit all who are involved with a company because it gives employees a direction and something to work for; it also benefits managers and the shareholders because it allows them to increase profits and actually provides them with the ability to measure progress by evaluating when and how goals are met.

Another incredibly important responsibility managers are tasked with supplying to businesses is their organizational skills. A company can most definitely not operate successfully. or perhaps not even at all, without organization. Managers are charged with deciding who does what, when, and where, all of which promote smooth coordination within a company and allows it to function sufficiently.

In brief, it is very important for students and others to analyze and learn what a manager is and what they must try to accomplish in their position because they are truly the ones charged with producing a successfully operating business. Setting goals and organizing different aspects of a company are just two main responsibilities that a manager possesses among many. I hope to one day eventually be someone who holds a managerial position and realize that studying how they operate now will most likely prove to be extremely beneficial for myself in the future.
