About Mars Inc.
Mars Inc. is an American global manufacturer of confectionery items that it creates, such as M&M’s, Milky way, Twix, Snickers, Skittles, and the Mars bar, and other food products with US$30 billion in annual sales in 2012, and is graded as the 3rd largest secretly held company in the United States by Forbes (Kaplan, 2013).
The company is completely possessed by the Mars family. Moreover, Mars operates in six business segments in the US: Food, Chocolate, Petcare, Drinks, Wrigley, and Symbioscience (Kaplan, 2013). “Mars Inc., ranked by Forbes as the 5th largest privately held company in the US” (Hom, 2012).
Our Supply Chain
The Mars’s aim is to cause more sustainably manufactured boosting farmers’ incomes, raw materials and making mutual benefits for the people that supply them. They base their decisions on the greatest available scientific data, cooperate with a diversity of partners and work straight with suppliers to accomplish lasting results (Mars Inc., 2012).
Mars has a character to play in helping our farmed suppliers to create more with less, as one of the world’s important food manufacturers. They care to provide higher quality, higher incomes, higher yields, for farmers and developed livings; less water, less energy, less land and greenhouse gas productions. They have obligated to buying 100 percent of several key raw materials over independent certification programs that assign these objectives, such as the Rainforest Alliance, UTZ Certified, Fairtrade International and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) (Mars Inc., 2012).
