Maxis Ilearn

After exploring Maxis iLearn in Second Life as well as other ‘island’, I would like to suggest few improvements that can be made to Maxis iLearn. Overall, Maxis iLearn seems to be empty and boring. I can only see an open area with outdated iPhone advertisements on the island. There is also a partially complete building with a slide show of NGM program which was for 2007 and some outdated advertisements boards on Maxis products and services.
Based on the analysis on current condition of Maxis iLearn, some improvements can be made to increase the number of visitors both internal employees and the general public. First of all, the appearance of Maxis iLearn should be presentable to attract more visitors. First impression is very important in any business to gain customer confidence and to build good reputation. In Maxis iLearn, appearance quality can be improved by adding real world concept to it such as indoor or outdoor benches, walking path, relaxing landscape, and exquisite interior design. Visitors would be more excited to have a virtual world that looks real. This is good way to retain the visitors to explore Maxis iLearn as well as to secure their future visit.
With the appearance improved, visitor’s expectation would be higher. In business, we want to minimize the gap between consumer expectation and product performance to increase customer satisfaction. Therefore, in this case, ‘product’ should be the information given since the objective of Maxis iLearn is for learning and collaboration. Therefore, second part that needs to be improved is the functionality of Maxis iLearn. This island should provide adequate and useful information for the visitors as well as keeping it updated. In assuring the effectiveness of Maxis iLearn, visitors should learn new things or updated with Maxis products and services on every visit. Besides, virtual corporate training classes on leadership or management are also a good way to attract internal employees which can actually save the organization in travel and lodging fees.
