The all-encompassing Assignment for the MBA Finance course "Managing Change in Organizations" required that an example of a Change Project past or planned in an Organization be used and fully analysed from inception to completion. To provide an answer to this Assignment a Change Project was identified which was implemented by the Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) (Belize’s sole electric Utility) from 1998 to 2004. The project involved the internalization of engineering planning and project implementation for the company and also the knowledge enhancement of the human resources involved with these activities. Appendix 1 gives a timeline development for BEL which describes the state of the organization as of the late 1990s and provides insight as to the need for the Change Project
to the need for the Change Project.
It should be noted that detailed documentation associated with the planning and subsequent implementation of the Change Project was not available, therefore in preparing the response to the Assignment the ‘best practices’ for applicable management techniques were assumed used and described, which effectively produced a full term response to the requirements of the Assignment.
