ABSTRACT
Millennium Development Goals are scheduled to be realized by the year 2015. Disparities in MDG achievement can be seen between and within countries characterized by the ever increasing poverty, high food prices, climate change and the impact of the international financial and economic crises. Reviews of MDG progress in various countries have revealed many successes but also the need for urgent and focused business implementations. In light of the 2015 MDG deadline, many countries may not realize their set target if they do not accelerate their business action plan .This paper examines the business interventions that have contributed to achievement of specific Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Kenya. The analysis is based on the existing database and reports on business interventions by the Millennium Villages project (MVP) and the MDGs Status Reports (2003, 2005,& 2007) in Kenya. These Millennium Villages are being implemented in Sauri (Siaya County) and Dertu (Garrisa County). The samples consist of the two MVPs in Kenya out of the 14 sites in 10 countries. Progress on MDGs require a focus on proven business interventions and making a radical break with those that do not alleviate poverty, this it is hoped, would lead to a change in strategies and policies to adopt the positive business interventions.
