Situation:
Providing reliable and dependable computer and communication technologies as well as off-site access to technical support for the MMC is one of the challenges that mobile clinics need to support for their operations (Brown Dehayes, Hoffer, Perkins, and Martin 2010, p.160). Although healthcare information systems help the nurses to keep and access the patient’s record, it is hard for CHF clinics to maintain accurate medical history because of the fact that poverty or homeless people tend to move from address to address. Most importantly, even though MMCs are able to operate with the network availability and reliability in urban areas, sometimes they face hard time to access to voice and network access in rural areas, and if this happens, the nurses are not able to fix the network problem since they do not have knowledge about networking technology and maintenance of equipment.
Target:
Implement a high speed networking solution to allow the nurses to access data and record in the field. Furthermore, to establish a unified database keeping track of clients records so that their mobility no longer hinders the proper keeping of their medical records.
Proposal:
MMC needs electronic health record at a reasonable price; therefore, having electronic health record in the Kindle Fire would be a new of “patient record keeping and computer technology within medical practices” (Amrich 2012). Kindle Fire is not very expensive, and it is easy to carry, easy to use, and easy to read; hence it is a good solution for MMC (Amrich). Also, Florida LambdaRail is being considered high speed network; therefore, it could be the solution for MMC’s networking issues. According to Roach, high speed LambdaRail network transmits data at 100 times the speed available to businesses; thus, MCC’s will be able to transfer large amounts data by using the
