IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY!
It was still dark when I arrived at the school, around 5:30 in the morning. I was very excited that time on what would happen in our educational tour. We left the school at around 6:40 am. Our first destination was the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Manila. We took Quirino Highway going to that place. After an hour, we passed by the historical Jones bridge in Navotas, Navotas Fish Port Complex and the Delpan bridge in Tondo.Finally, we reached the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Main Office at around 9:00 am. First, we got off the bus and everyone took a selfie and group photos at the emblem of BSP. After a minute, we lined up to go inside the BSP. We observed the strict security at the entrance of BSP. They were ensuring the safety and security inside the BSP premises.
Then, we went to the BSP Auditorium to attend a seminar entitled, “What Do You Know about the BSP?” The Role of the BSP in the Economy, discussed by Mrs. Michelle and company. First, Mrs. Michelle discussed the primary objectives of BSP which is to maintain price stability through monetary policy and she introduced to us the three (3) pillars of BSP, these are the price stability, financial stability and the efficient payments and settlement system. Secondly, she explained to us what is the role of BSP which is the owner and operator of Philippine Payment and Settlements Systems or PhilPaSS. Lastly, she discussed about the other functions of BSP, to wit: issues of money, official depositary and financial advisor of the government, bank of banks and lender of last resort, and custodian official reserves. After which, Mrs. Nelia Balagapon, Head of the BSP library gave her insights and she shared us about the functions and services of the said library. She told us that the books in the library could be a big help to the students in terms of financial studies. She also did mentioned that some of the books in their library could not be found in other libraries. After the program, we had a year-level photo opts. We also had a photo opt of FESO officers together with our beloved Dean Robert Doctor, FESO Adviser Mr. Glenn Vincent Rodil and the resource speakers.
After that, we headed to the Money Museum. There, we were able to watch a film discussing on how money is being reproduce. We were also given ample time to go around the money museum. We saw the different kinds of money since the advent of money till at the moment. We were also able to see the one hundred thousand peso bill (PHP 100,000.00) at the time of former President Fidel V. Ramos. There was also a sample of two thousand peso bill (PHP 2,000.00). Moreover, we were able to get a glance on a two thousand five hundred peso coin (PHP 2,500.00); it is made in U.S during the visit of former President Corazon Aquino in 1986. It was also showed all the former and present governors of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
