More and more people work from home and study from home with the development of computer technology. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

It is true that with the rapid development of technology, nowadays people tend to[a] work or study at home especially in major cities. In my point of view, this trend could have both positive and negative consequence in equal measure.[b]

They are several benefits for people who work or study at home. Firstly, and most importantly[c], it can help employees saving[d] on [e]commute time. A good case in point is that workers, in a conventional way, usually spend 1 or 2 hours on transportation from home to work or work to home in big cities each day[f]. If such time can be saved through working at home, the workloads completed [g]everyday wold[h] be increased significantly. Secondly, students who study at home can acquire a wide a wide[i] range of resources[j] through online. For example, there are usually limited resources provided by the school on the unique topics such as [k]dinosaurs, while students can obtain a deep understanding about this topic through surfing the internet.

On the other hand, some drawbacks of working or studying at home needs [l]to be considered.[m] One of the disadvantages is that it can reduce the work productivity. This is because people who[n] at home usually have more flexibility[o] compared to those working at traditional workplace. Therefore, employees working at home have the ability to delay the start of work [p]consequently leading to a reduced productivity. Moreover, in terms of studying at home, social isolation could be easily developed. Students who lose the opportunity to have a face to face communication with others tend to feel loneliness[q] causing[r] a poor mental development in the later stage.
