Advances in computer technology have made the classroom unnecessary, since students and teachers are able to communicate with each other from computer terminals at home or work
Introduction: Now days it is a virtual classroom using online learning techniques are very common. Especially in the case of professional learning like MBA the trend of e learning is increasing across the globe. Thanks to improved information technology, there are many people who get to attend educational classes amidst their other involvements. But E-learning process has several drawbacks as well.
Advantages
People from all corners of the world can attend the virtual classes. While going through the course one can continue to do one's regular involvement like doing a job, studying any other course in conventional process or managing the household. In early days many people had to stop their education as they were unable to attend physical classes. But as the option of online system becomes available many students are able to carry on education as long as the student has a computer and internet connectivity.
The virtual platform saves both cost and time of studying. On an average, tuition fees are little higher in physical classes compared to its online version. If a student is from a remote area and wants to pursue a regular course then he needs to arrange an accommodation near to the university or educational institution and pay for that. Availing transportation from residence to institute on a daily basis takes a lot of time and is expensive too.
According to Harrison and Stephen (1996) Tradition boundaries like (geographical, temporal and pedagogic) have been broken in online education and millions of students have been benefited by it. Anderson (2008) highlighted that online texts can be updated immediately and all the students and access it changed version immediately which is not possible in the case of physical classes and books.
