Panera Bread, a food service provider, is particularly focused in deli and bakery options. The quality of Panera Bread food is meant to change the status quo in the fast food industry. Shaich’s mission for Panera Bread is to offer transparently healthy, preservative-free food to their customers (Shaich). The company heavily implements this as one of their values even if it costs more. However, this system is highly admired by their customers who are looking for healthy but also convenient food. The company’s headquarters is located close to where the company was founded, in St. Louis, Missouri. Panera offers a wide variety of products, from soups and sandwiches to bagels and cookies. Recently, Panera released a “no no” list of artificial preservatives, sweeteners and flavors that should never be in the food consumers eat. It is noteworthy that Panera puts customer’s health above the cheapest production option. The company also offers several innovative services, such as catering, drive-thrus, online ordering, rapid pick-up orders, and table delivery to in-house diners. Panera cafes also have free wi-fi and cozy atmospheres in over 1,900 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Panera Bread is a stand-out restaurant from typical fast-food chains. However, Panera’s competitors are still the big chains such as McDonald’s and Wendy’s, coupled with fierce competition against Starbucks and Chipotle which offer similar atmospheres and services (Yahoo!).
Panera Bread is publicly traded on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange listed under the ticker symbol “PNRA”. The stock price’s 52-week low is $165.17, and the 52-week high is $220.44.
