To all of our employees: Our company is thinking about making a better change for our company. As of right now we are using Microsoft Excel to do all of our business matters in and we are looking to convert our company into using Microsoft Access.
There are many differences between Access and Excel this you will learn while you start working with the program. However they do seem to have one thing in common: both of the programs are used for making databases or lists of information. Depending on the type of database that needs to be produced and maintain would be the deciding factor on whether someone uses Excel or uses Access.
Excel is used to make simple spreadsheets or simple databases. It is one continuous lists of information that often times has our retype information. Excel is a great program for making calculations, analyzing data, and making graphs. However, the main purpose of Access is to store data. There are many different reports that can be generated from Access to show different relationships among the data stored. When a company needs to store personnel data, they might need a more in-depth database. Therefore, Access is most beneficial for Party Plates and other work environments.
When working with Excel, a person enters data into the grid row by row or column by column. When adding information into an Access database, companies can make customized data entry forms for whatever data needs to be added on a regular basis. Access also allows several people to work in the database at one time, whereas Excel only allows one person to work in the spreadsheet at a time. Having the ability to allow more than one person in the database allows employees to be more productive and saves time.
