1.0 Introduction
Immigration Department of Malaysia
Immigration Department of Malaysia is under the Ministry of Home Affairs, which provides services to Malaysian citizens, permanent residents and foreign visitors.
1.1 Company Core Business
Immigration Department of Malaysia is mainly focus on issuance of passports and travel documents to Malaysian Citizen and Permanent residents. Furthermore, it also issue visas, passes and permits to foreign nationals entering Malaysia. They also administrate and manage movement of people authorized entry and exit points.
Besides, Immigration Department of Malaysia also provides online services. Such as inquiry for visitor pass application status, application for MACS, inquiry for employment pass application status, employment pass application, student pass application for agency, visa application at attaché and others.
1.2 SWOT Analysis
Strength: Distinctive competence
Immigration Department of Malaysia is conducted by the Malaysia government. It is supported by the Malaysia government. Furthermore, it just act like a monopoly in Malaysia because there is no the other immigration department in Malaysia. It will not collapse.
Weakness: Inefficiency on the process of issuing passport
Immigration Department is not efficient in issuing the passport. They sometimes could not accept all the passport applicant of the day. The rest of the passport applicant on that day could have to come again next day. It is all due to the Immigration Department could not handle such a huge number of passport applicant.
Opportunity: Online Application of Passport System
Immigration Department should consider about the online application of passport since now everything is all about online service. Many countries are already using the online application of passport system, likes our neighbour, Singapore. Since now is the trend, Immigration Department can take this opportunity to design an online application of passport to convenience the citizens.
Threat: Complaint from passport applicant
Some of the passport applicants are not satisfied with the poor services that provided by the Immigration Department, they may make complaint on it. This poor service causes the passport applicants wasted their precious time on applying the passport and sometimes could even not get their passport on that day.
1.3 Future IT Objectives
Immigration Department of Malaysia was decided to enhance the immigration delivery system in line with the nation’s security and development. They hope to manage the immigration affairs accordance with national interests.
