Travelling is an annual activity my parents plan as a treat for the 11 months of studying with my nose to the grinding stone. After the holidays, I go back to school feeling afresh and enlightened by the new experience I immersed myself in. Vacation, in a way widens my views of the world and it broadens my horizons at the same time, giving me a new perspective on the metamorphosis of the world economy. I have been to many different countries and I have found something extraordinary in each and every of them. I am very interested in the fast pace of development in these developed countries and how hard the second and third world countries are trying to strive to catch. Recently, I was amazed with the automated payment machine in the restaurants in Japan. Thus I become determine to know about managing a place effectively.
I am constantly thinking about people of all walks of life where the poor and rich have disparity in the definition of happiness and money. Some people might want more for less, howbeit; some might want more for whatever the price. Whichever decision they take it all comes to the conclusion fulfilling their own happiness. Every business plans a would-be entrepreneur drafts, their aim and objectives tend to lie within the customer’s needs and want. Being able to nail down a person’s needs in bringing them convenience and contentment, would be a great achievement. This is what prompts me towards studying for a degree in Business and Management.
Living for the past 17 years in a tropical country, I would like to experience a seasonal environment. United Kingdom is one of the best places to experience such diverse climate. The pristine and historical buildings, cultural heritage and its exemplary education system are what brought me here.
Chinese, English and Malay are the three main languages we started learning at the age of five. I have been learning English for about 12 years and I am passionate to learn more and to improve in this global lingua franca. Hence, I believe that I am capable of completing a course that is taught in English. I receive a band score of 6.5 in Ielts with 6.0 and above for every category. If necessary, I will retake the exam to achieve a better grade.
I am currently doing a foundation in business. This course includes subjects like Mathematics, Law, Business, Economics and ICT. Among these subjects, Mathematics and Economics are my favourite. However, I have an avid interest in business especially in market research. During the half term holiday, we were given a project in market research. From that project, I have come to understand and learn the importance of doing a thorough market research with regards to consumer needs, spending pattern and viability in relation to building up a business.
I was a very shy person and so I tried to take part in different activities to build up my self-esteem. Throughout the 5 years in high school, I have gained more confidence. As a former monitor and vice-president, I have learnt that teamwork is very important. Even though I am a leader but discussion and approval from all members are the corner stone of a growing and successful society or club. I love to take on challenges as I know that is how I can learn and grow, as experience is the best teacher. Besides that, I had taken my first step into a chapter of my life, living in the UK by myself as a border. I have never felt so proud of myself as I finally left the endearment of parents, to a foreign land. Therefore, I am ready, able and willing to face every obstacle ahead assertively.
