Product Description:
Piezo-shoes are athletic shoes which utilize one’s movements into energy in order to power appliances and generate electricity; this will be done through inserting a piezoelectricity generator in the sole of the shoes which can additionally store and emit the electricity. With the rising prices of electricity and the universal attempt to cut down on costs, our competitive advantage is that our power shoes offer a benefit to customers which regular athletic shoes cannot; if worn at home, the shoes could provide greenhouse gas-free indoor electricity while one is cleaning their home without charge; if worn outdoors then our customers would no longer have to worry about charging their phone or iPod prior to leaving the house while they can perform the hobby that they love the most. We aim to reduce the rapid production of greenhouse gases by encouraging consumers to produce and use piezoelectricity. Our target market for piezo-shoes are joggers, dancers, athletes, and the mass market of people who have high-activity/movements throughout their day-to-day lives. We will launch our product in Vancouver initially, where bicyclists are common and many people use public transportation or otherwise walk frequently.
Supporting Evidence:
1. Evidence from Passport GMID: A report named “Emission Admission” shows us the change in greenhouse gas emissions after the Kyoto Protocol came into effect. Under the Kyoto Protocol, the emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in several sectors have decreased. However, overall emissions of greenhouse gases have increased since 1990. The emissions from energy consumption are responsible for a large part of this increase. Additionally, the report states that the high level of CO2 is due to the large level of fossil fuel being used to produce electricity for energy (Euromonitor International, 2005).
2. Charts from World Development Indicators: The first two charts show the CO2 2. emissions from electricity and heat production in the U.S. and Canada between 1990 and 2008. The third chart states the amount of CO2 emissions from electricity and heat production in the world (World DataBank).
3. A report from Packaged Facts, which is a trusted firm providing authoritative consumer market research, shows us that there is an increase in sale of footwear globally. Additionally, the report forecasts
