Professional Development Plan
A professional development plan is defined as the “process of improving and increasing capabilities of staff through access to education and training opportunities in the workplace, through outside organization, or through watching others perform the job. Professional development helps build and maintain morale of staff members, and is thought to attract higher quality staff to an organization.” (BusinessDictionary.com, 2016). Managers create the development through working closely and carefully with employees. By doing this the manager is able to identify characteristics and skills that are associated with the objectives and goals put in place by the company. The DiSC assessment is valid when developing a professional plan that is successful and effective. “The Platinum Rule divides behavioral preferences into four basic styles known as DiSC in regard to, dominance, interactive, steadiness, and cautious style” (Alessandra, N.D). By using the assessments of each employee to aid in team building, mentoring, conflict resolution and performance development plans. The assignment due this week requires creating a professional development plan after analyzing the learning team member assessments both individually and as a group in order to lead the team.
Individual members DiSC assessment
Learning Team D has 5 members, two of the team members, Patty and Lauren both fall under the Cautious style and the substyle assessor. Individuals who classify under this style perform slower, focused on accomplishing tasks, organized, orderly, and tend to be accurate (Alessandra, N.D). Those who fall under this style also have a tendency to tense up under pressure, they pay attention to their surroundings, can often times become captivated by ideas, processes and concepts. Those who are of the style of Cautious with the substyle assessor are great at keeping their patience with themselves and others and can become distracted from their goal and objectives due to curiosity. “These individuals also desire work in official intelligent settings deprived of excessive confusion. These individuals are indirect, fast thinking, and approach task and others with an evaluative approach (Alessandra, N.D)”.
