Eugenia Public Speaking Summary
Eugenia is a fascinating speaker who gave two interesting speeches. During both speeches Eugenia did a good job controlling the volume of her voice and eye contact. But the class felt that Eugenia was not confident because she did not have confident movements or gestures and her constant use of ums. There was little reason for Eugenia not to be confident everyone seemed to think her presentation was interesting. I think Eugenia was self conscious due to her lack of rehearsal prior to giving the speech.
Out of fifty nine positives, forty percent thought Eugenia was very interesting. She talked about moving to America and being a piano instructor. Eugenia by nature is a pleasant person. She does not have to try very hard to convey a pleasant presence and generous personality. Eugenia was open with the audience about her past and through this open communication the audience connected with her. That is why I think everyone thought Eugenia was so interesting, she showed her sincerity by revealing everything.
Thirty seven percent of the positives surveyed said Eugenia had good eye contact and an excellent speaking voice. Eugenia needs to maintain her speaking volume and eye contact in future speeches, and when possible talk about something that interests her. This would give her confidence and ensure her pleasant presence will shine.

Although true, I think a fair amount of practice and rehearsal would have curved her “ums” usage.
Twenty one percent of the negatives said Eugenia did not have confident movement as well. “Standing in one spot rocking back and forth” was a negative I consistently read. Nine percent of the class thought Eugenia lacked structure in both speeches. The structure again would come from rehearsal and research writing out what you want to say and practice speaking it till it feels natural. I believe at times Eugenia was just rambling from her head without any real plan on what she was going to say. This was apparent to me by her abrupt endings and beginnings in both speeches, signaling
