Introduction

Ethnic and racial differences are a major concernthat seriously needs to be addressed nowadays. People are preferred because of their skin tone and family background. In respect to the racial and ethnical differences two terminologies need to be understood.

The term “Race” refers to groups who have differences in their biological features like skin color, hair type, body physique etc. A common example of racial group is “Asian”because of their different body physique, typical face features and hair color.The term “Ethnicity” refers to a set of peoples who have same kind of cultures, perspectives and distinctions. They may have same kind of language, nationality or religion.

Discussion:

The world we are living in has many ethnic groups and racial differences. A person who has a white skin is preferred over black. Not only on the basis of skin tone, but also differences based on the languages form major ethnic groups. Religious groups specifically Muslims are mainly a target and are given low priority in the today’s higher cultures and society.

As Muslims form a large group and a major focus of all the other religious groups, therefore it forms the major issue regarding ethnic differences. Even among Muslims, there are numerous schools of thought with different opinions and variation in concepts. Sunni, Wahabi, Ahl e Hadees are some of the groups in Muslims.

Massive killing of Shias in Quetta (Pakistan) has jolted the world again and proved the existence of racism and ethnic differences among Muslims. Target killing and suicide attacks on Shias haveworsened the scenario in Pakistan.More than 200 Shias were killed in massive attacks on 10th January and 16th February 2013. This genocide needs to be stopped immediately. There should be targeted operations on the terrorist groups
